Young Like Me…

Day one met and exceeded my expectations…
My family (wife Cheryl; sons Hunter - 12; Griffin - 8; and Sawyer - 4) got me all settled. Cheryl put all my stuff “where it belongs” because I’m a live-out-of-the-suitcase kind of guy. They even left hidden notes all around which I am still finding. Now they’re off to visit relatives while I visit this world of older adults.
More than half way through the day it hit me… at least three people I met hadn’t mentioned I was too young to be moving into Garden Spot Village. They simply struck up a conversation and asked where I was living, where I was from, etc.
I thought I’d stick out like a guy drinking margaritas at an Irish pub, but there were no stares, no pointing, no making the new kid feel awkward during his first day at school. They simply accepted me as I was… it was a great feeling.
Later on the elevator, on my way to bed, a couple was talking with me and the gentleman said after finding out that I am here to do research, “Oh… that makes sense… I thought you may be a little young for this place.”
Somehow, that made me feel good too… goodnight.

I’m sure you do “stick out like a guy drinking margaritas in an Irish pub” and everyone really is staring…they’re just really, really good at being discreet about it!
