How am I ever going to do everything I want to do with my pals at Garden Spot?

The goal is to “divide and conquer,” with my associate Bob Fell spending more time delving into “indoor” activities and general community interaction and me being the “active” researcher; I met Lauren, the Wellness Director at Garden Spot Village, who is my new best friend. She invited me to participate in the elite water volleyball team at GSV which TRAVELS to other homes and apparently they kick some _ _ _ _, well, let’s just say they ROCK! Average age, 86.

As I watched them practice, Lauren and I talked about how her pregnancy two years ago helped create a positive reference for the residents to see how, with consistent activity, not necessarily high-impact or stressful, you can get into shape pretty quickly, post-pregnancy or post-mid-life. It opened up a whole realm of exercise opportunities which she immediately made available to the residents in creative and useful forums.

So how am I going to make the most of the month? I am going to do some more internal connecting with the employees and leadership to get their advice on where to be, what to look for and how to grow and bond with the community. They are truly our source of information right now.

Awaiting The Big Ah-Ha

I sat at home on this past Saturday waiting for my copy of the last Harry Potter book to arrive… the anticipation was agonizingly wonderful.

As I sit here this morning, I am starting to feel the same way about my Ah-Ha’s… you know, those moments when the pieces fall into place and you see a brand new thought… the birth of insight.

The problem with Ah-Ha’s is that you can’t schedule a delivery like you can with a hot new book… Ah-Ha’s are more like the cable guy… they come when they get around to it.

You also can never be sure what you get in an Ah-Ha… but I’m expecting a big delivery all throughout August. I’ll let you know when the first one arrives.
